Polestar changes its mind – does not rule out a new hybrid car

Chinese Polestar has long sworn that it will only build electric cars. But as with many other car brands, CEO Thomas Ingenlath is now stepping down.

Chinese Polestar lives a cloudy existence.

Not least because, on top of a valuation of NOK 0 at a Swedish bank, the owner has changed. Read more about it here .

And now the car brand's director Thomas Ingenlath does not want to rule out that Polestar will once again build a hybrid car sometime in the future.

– You should never say never. But technology is moving forward, and we should certainly make use of innovation to a much greater extent.

– We can't just make a hybrid like they used to be. If we're going to make something like the Polestar 1, nothing beats an electric powertrain either.

– It would be very difficult to make something that could compete with an all-electric performance car. Show me the technology that can beat it and we can talk about it, says the director in the Decoder podcast.

The progress in the sale of electric cars may not have stopped, but it has slowed down sharply. Among other things, because buyers in Europe's largest car market in Germany are turning away from new electric cars. Read more about it here.

Nevertheless, Polestar and Thomas Ingenlath believe that the electric cars will win in the long run. That is why he also believes that the car brands that are now moving ashore with regard to the electric car will have to change their minds again.

On the other hand, those who are actually going to buy the cars respond that they have become more negative towards electric cars in the past year. Read more about it here.
