New Porsche 911 Hybrid: "Faster than ever!"

Is it the beginning of the end, or do the new hybrid measures make the Porsche 911 an even cooler car? Read more below.

Porsche presents the first 911 with hybrid technology for series production after more than five million kilometers of test roads worldwide.

During the development of the first Porsche 911 with hybrid technology, the focus has been on making it even stronger and faster.

Although Porsche has previously experimented with electrified powertrains in racing versions of the model, it is only now, after extensive test runs around the world, that the first street version is ready for production.

"We are now equipping the 911 model with a hybrid powertrain for the first time in its 61-year history. This innovative performance hybrid is designed to increase the dynamics of the iconic sports car. During development, no chances have been taken and the technology has been tested in all conditions, from extreme cold to hot conditions as in the final test phases in Dubai," says Frank Moser, head of Porsche's 911 and 718 model lines.

"Whether it was under heavy load on mountain roads or in stop-and-go traffic in urban areas, the new 911 has coped with even the most challenging situations. Collectively, our engineers and test drivers have covered more than five million kilometers of test roads."

On the legendary Nürburgring Nordschleife, which has always been central to the development of the Porsche 911, the new hybrid version was tested.

Here, former factory driver and Porsche ambassador Jörg Bergmeister clocked a lap of 7:16.934 minutes, which is 8.7 seconds faster than the predecessor model.

The test car was equipped with standard street tires and Aerokit with a fixed rear wing, which is available as an option and increases downforce at high speeds.

"The new 911 is significantly faster on the track. It has more grip, significantly more power, and the spontaneous response of the performance hybrid makes a big difference," comments Jörg Bergmeister.
