Elon Musk paid 7 million kroner for abandoned car

A car is usually abandoned for a reason. But when Elon Musk 'found' this Lotus Esprit, he still paid at checkout.

Let's take a trip back to 1989.

Here, a couple who remain anonymous to this day found an abandoned warehouse. They paid $100 for the content.

But instead of finding old carpets, furniture and perhaps a diary, they found a Lotus Esprit. And not just any Esprit.

That's what LadBible writes.

In 1976, the car was used in the filming of the James Bond film 'The Spy Who Loved Me'. You know, the one that could turn into a submarine.

According to the man who subsequently auctioned the car, the couple had absolutely no idea what they had found in the abandoned storage room.

After the couple were made aware of what they had actually found, they ended up keeping it for a few decades. That is, until one day in 2013.

During the actual auction, which RM Sotheby's was responsible for, an anonymous buyer came forward. Here he paid 997,000 dollars, equivalent to 6.9 million kroner, for the car.

Only later did he choose to reveal himself. It is the same man who plans to send people to Mars and equip the Earth's paved roads with robot taxis. Read more about it here .
