The US places 100 percent tariffs on Chinese electric cars

According to several American media, the country's government is preparing to raise the tariff on Chinese electric cars to 100 percent.

While the EU is still somewhat vaguely threatening the Chinese with increased tariffs with retroactive effect on electric cars, the Americans are acting hard in a different way.

The Biden government thus proposes a 100 percent tariff on Chinese electric cars. Right now there is a 25 percent tariff on the Chinese electric cars and the parts for them that come to the United States.

But as early as next week, the Americans will raise the tariff to 100 percent. The government led by Joe Biden believes that it is necessary.

The New York Times writes that.

Conversely, the Chinese are already ready to strike again, reads the warning from the country's diplomatic representation in the United States.

– Instead of stopping wrong practices (the tariffs that the Trump administration imposed on Chinese goods, ed.), the US continues to politicize trade.

– China will take all necessary measures to defend its rights and interests, Lin Jian, spokesman for China's Ministry of Foreign Affairs, told the media.

But the Chinese's opinions on unfair trade apparently do not scare the American president, who has launched an investigation into the Chinese's own trade in steel and aluminium.

– If the investigation confirms an unfair trade practice, I intend to call for a tripling of the tariff on both steel imports and aluminum imports from China, says Joe Biden.
