44 percent of Danes have bad habits on the motorway

Most drivers probably perceive themselves as both responsible and competent behind the wheel, but the bad habits lie just below the surface, a new survey shows.

44 percent of Danes admit that they drive too fast when they are behind the wheel on the motorway.

This is shown by a new survey that YouGov has carried out for Gjensidige .

At the same time, however, 29 percent of Danes say that they have kept below the speed limit on the motorway. Both parts can actually be problematic, believes Lene Rasmussen, claims director at Gjensidige.

– After all, the Road Traffic Act must ensure that traffic flows so smoothly that potentially dangerous situations do not arise. Motorways are the safest type of road, but safety can be challenged both if you drive too fast and too slowly.

However, the same survey also shows that as many as 18 percent of Danes have the same annoying habit on the motorway.

Because even though according to the traffic law you have to keep to the right on the motorway, the Danes flout the rule in a big way. And it may feel safe to lie in the middle of the motorway, but it is actually not the best idea in the world.

There are actually good safety reasons behind the rule to keep to the right, and so it is a great help to others if you can find out how to blink in good time, because you are changing lanes. Sudden braking can quickly develop into accidents when the speed is high, says Lene Rasmussen.

The survey also shows that 15 percent of Danes, when asked, admit that they find it difficult to keep the correct distance from anchors.

Incidentally, it is quite a lot – when it comes to bad habits – that the Danes have admitted in various surveys recently. And it is certainly not only drivers who have a guilty conscience in traffic. Read more about it here .
