In New York, surveillance cameras don't just take pictures of drivers, they also listen for noise. And it costs a fortune, a Porsche owner must admit.
A Porsche 911 owner has been fined 800 dollars, equivalent to 5,553 Danish kroner, in New York. But not because he cut too fast.
Instead, the city council believes that their cameras, which are also equipped with listening equipment, have picked up that the Porsche is making too much noise.
And that even if the Porsche owner can prove that there is a factory original exhaust on the car. Something that was also on the 911 when it was intercepted by the camera.

The Porsche owner admits that he briefly cut too fast in a 40-zone. The sound clip that the city government in New York has of the Porsche also lasts less than 2 seconds.
But for those two seconds, the 911 made noise 5 decibels more than allowed. So the city council insists that the fine must be paid.
The Porsche owner has also received a warning. Because if he is caught standing again, there will be a fine of 2,500 dollars, equivalent to 17,500 kroner.
And that regardless of whether he comes roaring past the listening equipment in the same Porsche or in a completely different car.
