New figures: 16 percent of electric car owners are short of electricity

A new study has shown that range anxiety still exists. Still, 91 percent of electric car owners say they want to go electric again.

Range anxiety is apparently not a thing of the past.

Not even though several electric cars can now – at least officially – cover hundreds of kilometers on a single charge.

And although 6 out of 10 think that it is fine that electric cars cannot cover more than 500 kilometers on the same charge. Read more about it here.

In a new survey by Ideal Power , electric car owners have been asked about their general concerns. And here range-anxiety is still among them.

As many as 44 percent of electric car owners respond that the fear of not having enough power in the battery has had a negative impact on their experience of owning an electric car.

At the same time, 16 percent of motorists admit that they have tried driving completely dry for electricity in an electric car. But the biggest concern among motorists was and is the number of charging points.

As many as 75 percent answered in the survey that they have at least once experienced that all charging points at a public charging station have been occupied.

10 percent answer that they have waited more than one hour to charge. However, the same survey also shows that the average waiting time at public charging stations is 15 minutes or less.

When range anxiety is taken into account, it is not surprising that 42 percent of electric car owners respond that they would pay extra to 'reserve' an available charging point.

And then letting go can suddenly become very expensive. According to the Norwegian response to FDM, electricity from flash chargers is now as expensive as diesel, while the Germans say electricity is more expensive than petrol. Read more about it here .
