Bilfabrik stops production of Fisker Ocean permanently

Production of Fisker Ocean will probably not start again. In any case, the factory in Austria no longer counts on the car brand.

Fisker Inc. has never had its own factory. All branded cars are produced in Austria by Magna Steyr in Austria.

But now the factory says that it does not expect to build cars for Fisker again. Previously, the car brand has also said that it will put an end to production for 6 weeks.

On Monday this week, seven weeks have passed since the production stoppage was announced on 18 March. That's what Motor magazine writes.

However, Magna Steyr is not quite finished with Fisker. And the other way around. Because although the factory in Austria has recently had to fire 500 employees due to the prospect of fewer work assignments, the Austrians have DKK 195 million to their credit at Fisker.

This is stated by the car factory in a press release .

Money that will either fall from further production, or – as is now more likely – that the contract between the partners will be cancelled.

Magna Steyr was given the prospect that, alongside Mercedes G-Classes and Toyota Supras, they could spit 20,000 to 23,000 Fisker Oceans off the assembly line per year.

All of last year it was barely enough for 10,000 cars. Fisker still needs to sell several of the cars. Analysts reckon that Fisker has up to 5,000 cars in various warehouses around.

The production stoppage is not the only bad news from Fisker Inc. Because while founder Henrik Fisker's house is now worth more than the entire car brand, Danish Ocean owners received bad news on Monday that had an immediate effect. Read more about it here .
