Electric car owner in shock over bill of a whopping DKK 146,000

The damage to this Rivian R1T is – objectively speaking – of the minor kind. But the bill is not.

An authorized workshop can often be the more expensive solution.

It underlines the bill for a dent repair that a Rivian R1T owner got from an authorized service workshop.

The man has to get away with $21,149.16. This corresponds to 146,000 Danish kroner plus the loose. However, it is unclear how the damage occurred.

But on the social media site Reddit you can see the result. The damage, then. The lamp housing of one rear light appears to be damaged, and we can't avoid a dent and a partial coating.

The workshop more than pays for it. The workshop believes that a total of 94 working hours will have to be allocated to the task. The wage, which otherwise fluctuates a lot, is also by far the largest item on the bill.

The parts that need to be used 'only' add up to 4,580 dollars, corresponding to 31,000 kroner. This is due, among other things, to the car being cut. The panel with the damage is one long continuous piece.

So to make it look nice again, the workshop cut out the damaged part and replaced it with a new one. And as for the bill? Yes, it was actually paid.

It is not the first time that damage to electric cars has surfaced. In fact, it is often associated with hideous costs when things go wrong. A married couple in a Tesla, for example, was met with a bill for an almost equivalent amount. Read more about it here .

Studies have also been carried out which state that even minor damage is often very expensive to repair on electric cars. Individual parts for the cars can also easily cost more than the annual electricity consumption. A factory-new headlight for an Audi Q4 e-tron, for example, costs a whopping DKK 22,500.
