Adrian Newey is leaving Formula 1 team Red Bull

The rumor has been swirling for a while. But now it is certain that Red Bull's technical director Adrian Newey will quit the job.

Adrian Newey is leaving the Formula 1 team Red Bull Racing.

The team confirms this in a press release on Wednesday this week.

Adrian Newey has been associated with Red Bull as technical manager since 2006, and he has ultimately been responsible for the many cars that have brought home a sea of world championships.

Rumors of Newey's departure have been swirling for quite some time, and it really gained momentum when Red Bull team principal Christian Horner was subject to an internal investigation for inappropriate behaviour.

Red Bull ended up acquitting Horner and sending home the employee who had complained about him. But Newey has allegedly been unable to work under those conditions. Something he should have already made very clear to the rest of the Red Bull management last week.

Another explanation, which The Race puts forward, could be that Newey has been sidetracked internally. And that this should be why the 65-year-old Englishman is now packing up.

Officially, Adrian Newey will leave his position after the 2024 season. So he still has a few working days left in an otherwise record-long Formula 1 season.
