New numbers: Tesla Model 3 performs worst for intermittent vision

The Tesla Model 3 is the worst of the newer cars that roll into a German showroom. This is shown by a new report from TÜV.

The first Tesla Model 3 is in many ways nothing to shout about. Now a settlement from TÜV shows that the same is the case in the inspection halls.

The first Model 3s are indeed the worst of the 2 to 3-year-old cars that the German inspectors checked last year.

According to the TÜV report, the Volkswagen e-Golf performed best with 2.6 percent faults. The Renault Zoe lagged behind with 5.7 percent faults.

While the bottom is made up by the Tesla Model 3 with 14.7 percent errors. Most often, the brakes and undercarriage have a hard time with the electric cars. The brakes are used too little, and the often very high weight of the electric cars puts a lot of wear and tear on the undercarriage.

If we move a little further back in time, the Mazda CX-30 performs best among the 6 to 7-year-old cars. Here there is an error rate of 6.5 percent.

As we approach the 13 years, the Audi TT is doing best, with 'only' 15 percent faults. It looks worst for the Dacia Logan, where there are errors in 40 percent of the cases.

In a similar Danish investigation by the vision chain Applus, it has been concluded that the age of the cars also means that it will be a greater challenge for motorists to maintain the cars.

– This is a clear indication that it can be a challenging task for car owners to maintain the condition of the car, explains technical manager John Gantzhorn.
