Survey: Toyota owners are the worst at washing cars

How much love and care cars get depends a lot on the owner. A survey singles out Toyota owners as the worst.

There are those who wash the car every weekend. Then there are those who only sacrifice a car wash when the car is to be sold.

And then there are those who just don't mind that kind of thing. In the last category you will find Toyota owners. And not only that. Toyota owners are generally the worst at maintaining their cars.

This is shown by a survey that Kantar Sifo is behind. In the survey, which was carried out by Swedish KVDCars , the owners of 15 car brands were asked to rate their own car maintenance skills on a scale from 1 to 10.

Motorists were asked to consider parameters such as car wash, service and general maintenance. This is where the Audi owners believe they do best. As many as 67 percent of these drivers believe that their skills in car care are 8 out of 10.

After this, Volvo, BMW and Hyundai owners reported to the track. While we definitely find the Toyota owners at the bottom of the list as bottom plugs.

According to the survey, the bottom position may be due to the fact that Toyota owners, to a greater extent than others, choose a car based on a principle of common sense. But than out of pure 'choir joy' and other feelings in that context.

The Renault owners don't put much love into their cars either. Surprisingly, Mercedes owners are not too keen on spending time on the car either. That is, other than the one behind the wheel.

In terms of age, there is also a large spread to follow. As many as 62 percent of drivers between the ages of 56 and 79 think that they take good care of their cars. That figure is just 39 percent among younger drivers between the ages of 18 and 34.

The proportion of drivers who rate their abilities in car care as '8 out of 10' (in percentage):

  1. Audi: 67%
  2. Volvo: 57%
  3. BMW: 56%
  4. Hyundai: 55%
  5. Volkswagen: 53%
  6. Ford: 46%
  7. Opel: 46%
  8. Peugeot: 46%
  9. Nissan: 43%
  10. Kia: 41%
  11. Saab: 41%
  12. Mercedes: 39%
  13. Renault: 39%
  14. Toyota: 35%
