Bo has no doubts – the electric car is idiocy

Swedish Bo Andersson is better known as the Bosse Car Doctor, and he has no doubts. The electric car is idiocy. At least right now.

Swedish Bo Andersson, who is also known as Bosse Bildoktoren, makes a living by writing books about cars.

But before he started it, he was a mechanic for many years. Something that later developed into an inspector role in connection with the conversion of older cars in Sweden.

Some of them are even equipped with battery packs. Still, Bo Andersson is not particularly enthusiastic about the electric car.

In particular, he does not see the point in having to change the battery pack at some point. Because it is – at least as it looks right now – outrageously expensive.

Because even though the car may be so easy to drive and require very little maintenance, the idea of being good still holds when a new battery costs much more than the used electric car is worth.

– Then there is the idiocy when the batteries are too old, and it might cost 400,000 (Swedish kroner, ed.) to change the batteries on a car that is worth 50,000 kroner. The car might be fantastic otherwise, and then you are back in use and throw away the tank.

Bo Andersson would also like to see a focus on the development of other and more than electric cars. However, he can state that not much happens with hydrogen.

At the same time, more energy is used to produce synthetic fuels than the artificial gasoline ultimately provides in terms of propulsion on the road. Still, the development of electric cars is going in the wrong direction.

– I recently looked at what Volvo offers in terms of electric cars. And I think that many cars have an unnecessary amount of power, who needs 400 horsepower?, he asks in an interview with Carup .

Swedish Bo Andersson is not the only one who is skeptical of a one-sided focus on electric cars. A number of car manufacturers do the same. Including Toyota and BMW.

On the other hand, the Japanese have found it difficult to get rid of their so far only electric car – when the hydrogen car Mirai is withdrawn – from the model range. Read more about it here .
