Four competitors want to buy Henrik Fisker's car brand

In a fashion, Henrik Fisker has told his remaining employees about the future. Apparently there is still hope.

The car brand Fisker Inc. will apply for bankruptcy protection within 30 days.

That is, if it is not possible to save the business. But to his employees, Henrik Fisker gives the impression that there is still hope for a rescue.

Business Insider writes this on the basis of a recording from a meeting between Henrik Fisker and the employees.

In fashion, Henrik Fisker must have said that there are still four car brands with an interest in Fisker Inc. In fact, they are so 'interested' that they have all signed non-disclosure agreements to that effect.

Nor does Henrik Fisker mention any names of any of the four car manufacturers. On the whole, Fisker's rescue plan seems somewhat mysterious.

In March, Henrik Fisker announced publicly that they were in negotiations with 'a bigger car brand'. Shortly afterwards, the news agency Reuters was able to tell that it was Nissan. And that the Japanese were otherwise not interested anyway.

Right now, both Deutsche Bank and a bankruptcy lawyer are in the picture with Fisker. The German bank has been asked to help find a solution.

Allegedly, a buyer has also already signed up. But Fisker should have rejected the bid as being 'too low'. Money is otherwise something that Fisker can use.

On Monday, the car brand submitted its annual report, and it is – for those who read this sort of thing – not particularly encouraging. In fact, the accounts reveal that Fisker lost a whopping DKK 6.54 billion over the course of 2023.

The massive loss means, among other things, that Fisker Inc. must enter into agreements with creditors to postpone debt deadlines. Likewise, even more employees must be fired. In February, Fisker announced that in an attempt to fix the economy, 15 percent of all employees were fired.

But that is not enough. And now, first and foremost, protection against creditors lurks before a possible bankruptcy. In Sweden, Fisker Inc. is threatened. right out of forced dissolution. Read more about it here.

This week it also emerged that the factory in Austria, where Fisker rents, is to fire several hundred employees.

Magna Steyr, as the factory is called, had actually been given the prospect of building 20,000 to 23,000 Fisker Oceans alone. So every year. Last year it did not even amount to 10,000 cars.

And now the factory is adapting to a future with fewer orders and therefore also fewer cars. This is written by Austria's public service media ORF.
