70,000 have ordered a car that does not exist yet

Chinese Xiaomi will now build something other than smartphones. And apparently that's something customers have to ask for. The expectations for the new electric car SU7 have already been exceeded.

It is probably not because Xiaomi has persuaded the world's probably most controversial car designer to be part of the development.

But the Chinese must have done something right. In any case, Xiaomi itself claims that they already have more than 70,000 orders for the new electric car SU7.

CNBC writes that.

The number of pre-orders is to that extent behind director Lei Jun. Because the 70,000 cars correspond to what Xiaomi had hoped/expected to be able to sell in a year.

That is why the target has also been set. If the new Chinese brand sells less than 100,000 cars this year.

The first copies of the SU7 were offered for sale at the end of March. Xiaomi wants the equivalent of DKK 200,000 for them. Or a good 30,000 less than the Tesla Model 3.

And although it may sound like the Chinese smartphone manufacturer is gaining momentum, it is not without costs.

The car is priced aggressively on the home market in China, and analysts believe that each SU7 makes a loss of just under 10,000 dollars. This corresponds to DKK 69,200 at the current exchange rate.
