Survey: Here is the Danes' biggest enemy in traffic

It really shouldn't be necessary to tell people with choir cards. Nevertheless, an investigation by the Accident Commission indicates that motorists need to hear it.

Chor car when you chore car.

It is not just the headline of a campaign that Danish motorists are currently facing in traffic. If they discover it otherwise.

Because a new investigation by the Accident Commission indicates that Danish drivers have more than difficulty keeping their eyes on the road. The attention goes to possible other things.

In the investigation, the Accident Commission took a closer look at 321 serious traffic accidents on Danish roads. And in 119 of them, inattention played a role.

Ritzau writes that.

However, the accident commission's work also shows that inattention is not necessarily due to phone browsing.

In fact, a distracting phone, watch or GPS is only involved in a third of the 119 accidents. When motorists drive the wrong way on the Danish roads, it is also because their attention is focused on the wrong thing. Or in some cases not paying enough attention.

And it is something that comes to the back of the chairman of the Accident Commission for Road Traffic Accidents, Rikke Rysgaard. At least she hadn't expected it.

– It is a surprise to us that when you look at the nuances of the accidents, it is not just the mobile phones that are the culprit, she says.

Still believes that what she and the Orchard Commission have come up with may well contain an even larger number. The accident commission will only draw conclusions on what you can be one hundred percent sure of.

– You can easily imagine that there are more accidents due to inattention, says the chairman.
