Porsche also cheated: The Germans pay a staggering amount in settlement

Volkswagen is not the only one in the VAG group to have cheated. Porsche must now pay a staggering amount of money to avoid a lawsuit.

Volkswagen has already emptied its pockets for billions of kroner, and now the sister brand Porsche is putting even more money on top of the penance. This time it is – also – emissions cheating. Porsche pays 80 million dollars in a settlement because cars – which the factory has produced between 2005 and 2020 – have leaked too much. On the other hand, Porsche does not accept the blame for anything, and the settlement states that it only concerns cars that have been sold on the American market. Reuters writes that . The news agency also writes that each of the affected Porsche owners must receive the equivalent of $250 in compensation. Just like the owner of Porsche models with a 'Sport+' setting, a trip past a Porsche workshop with their cars is a must. Here, the factory will load a piece of software into the cars, which will ensure that they meet the applicable emssiosn standards.
