Lamborghini: Electric cars will still have a wild sound

No matter what Lamborghinis do, the brand's cars will always be able to ignite 'something' in people, believes the brand's design manager.

Lamborghini is moving – like all other car brands – in the direction of electrification. And that, according to the brand's head of design, is not quite so bad. The boss's name is Mitja Borkert, and he tells Autocar that Lamborghini's cars will still look and sound like spaceships. And that regardless of what the cars are driving. Lamborghini will launch its last car with a pure combustion engine already this year. Because in 2024 they are ready to produce hybrid cars as a transition to electric cars in 2028. The next generation of the SUV Urus will probably be the second electric car from the factory in Sant'Agata. For it, a smaller electric car will have to be squeezed into the factory's already sparse model range. Borkert sees several opportunities in switching from fossil fuels to electric cars. Among other things, the design manager points out that the location of the exhaust rudder can be used for more aerodynamics when the factory 'gets rid' of the internal combustion engine. – I am absolutely convinced that we can come up with some smart aerodynamics in the future, he says to the media. What exactly Lamborghini has in mind, only the people at the factory know. But a little has escaped. Among other things, the brand – perhaps – intends to use the model name Revuelto. Maybe for an electric car. In any case, the Italians registered it as a trademark just a few days ago.
