24-year-old has smashed almost irreplaceable Ferrari in Germany

A just 24-year-old man got the parts for a Ferrari F40. Quite a short time later he smashed it in a German tunnel.

Just around 1,300 Ferrari F40s were built. Even Ferrari dealers disagree on exactly how many there were.

Some say 1,311. Others say 1,315. It is certain, however, that there are almost certainly not that many left today. The ravages of time have taken their toll, even on the legendary Ferrari.

One of them died recently at the hands of a just 24-year-old man who works for a German car dealer. The very young driver had been given the task of driving the car to "Motorworld" in Böblingen.

But Sunday at At 08.00 the car was more scrap than ready to go in the Engelberg tunnel around Stuttgart. Here the Ferrari was like a ping-pong ball rogued between the walls of the tunnel.

Why it went so wrong is still unclear. But according to a police officer, the damage to the car indicates either that a technical defect occurred, or that the young man is simply short on ability. Too strong, in other words.

He himself was not injured. After the accident, however, he was seen at a nearby hospital. A spokesman from the car dealer Mekatronik, which owns the expensive Ferrari, emphasizes that the most important thing is that no one was injured.

The Ferrari F40 is in many ways an iconic car, i.a. because it is said that the car was the last new street car founder Enzo Ferrari saw alive. F40 production began in 1987. Enzo died in 1988.

While Mekatronik won't say much about the accident, the circumstances or whether the 24-year-old is still on the payroll, the dealer would like to confirm that the Ferrari was on its way to the company's stand at the Motorworld show.

Until the accident, the car was for sale on the German car website Mobile.de. Here, the dealer said that the car has only a short 21,000 kilometres. Something that should justify a price tag of just under 3 million euros, which corresponds to 22.4 million Danish kroner.
