The state must support special electric cars even more, FDM demands

FDM now demands that the state subsidize smaller and cheaper electric cars even more than is the case today. However, the proposal is already facing criticism.

FDM now demands that the state supports electric cars more than is the case today.

Specifically, the interest organization demands that the state throw even more subsidy kroner at especially the smaller and cheaper electric cars. If this does not happen, FDM fears that an A and a B team of motorists will emerge.

That is why the organization has also started a campaign with the claim called 'How more Danes – and the environment – get better benefit from electric car subsidies.'

– We doubt that the electric car will really make a popular breakthrough if the many Danes who do not have DKK 300,000-500,000 for a new electric car have to make do with half a load, says FDM's managing director, Stina Glavind.

She believes that right now there is an A-team in electric cars that gets all the advantages of driving in electric cars. However, the proposal falls on bad ground with De Danske Bilimportorer.

– You can easily find a less wealthy family with many children who therefore need a bigger car. They will be punished by FDM's proposal.

If you want to carry out distribution policy, I believe that it should be done through the income tax. We should focus on lowering the registration fee on all types of electric cars, says the director of Bilimportorerne in an interview with Motor magazine.

Conversely, De Danske Bilimportorer also believes that the carrot is no longer enough to lure Danes into electric cars. A whip is needed. In fact, the Danes just have to adjust, says Mads Rorvig. Read more about it here.

The latest agreement on car taxes is back from December 2020. It means, with small adjustments along the way, that the taxes on electric cars will rise again in 2026. And in 2035 there must not be a single krone in tax rebates on electric cars.
