Dansker has got Schumacher's job in Formula 1

Danish Frederik Vesti can now – like Mick Schumacher – call himself a reserve choir for more than one Formula 1 team.

Like Mick Schumacher, Danish Frederik Vesti is now strengthening his ties to more than one Formula 1 team.

Because even though it is rumored that the Dane is in the running for a seat at Williams, on paper he has to cope as a reserve at McLaren.

In other words, in addition to the task Vesti already has as Mercedes' reserve choir. He said this earlier in connection with the Chinese Grand Prix at the weekend.

– As part of the agreement Mercedes has with McLaren, I can also act as a reserve choir for them (McLaren, ed.). So if one of their staff gets sick, they also have the option of putting me in the car, Vesti tells Viaplay .

However, Vesti does not have to fulfill both tasks alone. He shares the spare seats at both McLaren and Mercedes with Mick Schumacher.

Schumacher was replaced at Haas ahead of the 2022 season in favor of a comeback for another Dane, namely Kevin Magnussen.

In addition to the reserve chance for Mercedes – and therefore now also McLaren – Frederik Vesti will score six lobs in the European Le Mans Series for Swiss Cool Racing.

– Formula 1 is my ultimate goal, but it is important to keep working hard and stay sharp.

– It will be fantastic to take part in a strong competitive race series , fully supported by Mercedes-AMG Petronas F1, and with a lob program that will connect super well with my role with the team this year, said the 22-year-old Vesti in this connection .

However, Vesti, who comes from Vejle, is not the only Dane who is currently making a name for himself at the top of the world of motorsport.

Le Mans driver Marco Sorensen could say last December that he had extended his relationship with Aston Martin Racing with a new four-year contract. Even though he tells BT that there were offers from other car brands.

– At the last moment I chose to go with my gut feeling and stay with the family I've been with since 2015. I didn't want to leave here, says the racing choir.
