Judgment on confiscated car can be appealed, says Hojesteret

It is not certain that the state will be allowed to confiscate another lease car. In any case, one motorist has now received the Hojesteret's word that the judgment can be appealed.

On Thursday this week, the Supreme Court ruled that a motorist can appeal the high court judgment, which otherwise meant that the state can confiscate his leased car for reckless driving.

Ritzau writes that.

The man initially lost the leased car because his son, who had not been allowed to use it, was caught driving on a race track. Popularly called street racing.

The man who had leased the car therefore believes that losing the car is too drastic a consequence.

In the first instance, the High Court would not give him the right to do so. But the Supreme Court would like to. In fact, the Hojesteret says that the man can be recognized as a party to the case because he must pay the financial loss the leasing company has suffered from the confiscation.
