Nissan promises 'super battery' in electric cars as early as 2028

Although Nissan says that the so-called solid state batteries for electric cars are now within reach, it will not be until 2030 that the electric car can compete on price.

Chinese CATL does not believe that motorists should turn their noses up at the solid state batteries, which are often called the electric car revolution, which the car brands have promised for the past several years.

But Nissan now believes that drivers can afford it anyway. And that already in four years actually.

The brand says so in a press release .

In 2028, the Japanese brand will be ready with the first electric cars with solid state technology. And not only that. By that time, Nissan also believes it will be able to significantly cut production and development costs.

It must, among other things, happen by using the same giga casting technique as Tesla. In other words, stack large parts of the cars at once.

Right now, Nissan is only experimenting with the solid state batteries. But as early as March next year, it is intended that the first production of the batteries should materialize.

When there is so much talk about solid state batteries, it is because people both inside and outside the automotive industry expect that the battery type will be able to create a revolution when it comes to electric cars.

It is said that the batteries will be able to double the energy density currently found in ordinary lithium-ion batteries. Furthermore, the charging time will be significantly reduced.

Another Japanese brand has been talking and talking and talking about the solid state batteries for years. Nothing has really happened yet. The serial production that Toyota is talking about at the moment, you shouldn't expect much from either. Read more about why here .
