Recalling over 36,000 cars due to one sticker

Alfa Romeo is now recalling 2,571 copies of the Tonale SUV worldwide, because the sunroof in the cars can be dangerous for drivers. In March, it was crazy with 36,000 cars.

Cars that Alfa Romeo has sold in as many as 105 countries now need a trip to the workshop.

The Italian car brand, which is part of the Stellantis group, has found out that the sunroofs in 2,571 examples of the Tonale SUV can be dangerous.

The recall applies to cars built in the period between 24 November 2022 and 20 February 2023. In these cars, Alfa Romeo believes it has located a potentially dangerous fault.

To the German media Auto Motor und Sport , Alfa Romeo states that the mechanism to prevent the sunroof from stopping if something gets in the way may not work.

In this way, Tonale owners and/or their passengers can easily get their hands in a pinch. The story says nothing about whether the sunroof can fold forward so strongly that it can also cut off fingers.

But the many cars must be checked anyway. Alfa Romeo itself states that it will take around 2 hours and 45 minutes to review each one of the almost 2,500 cars for the fault.

If necessary, the car brand will replace the problematic electronics in the cars. It is not the first time that Alfa Romeo has had to recall the Tonale SUV.

In the month of March, over 36,000 copies of the model, which is also available in the USA as the Dodge Hornet, had to go to the workshop to have a sticker replaced.

Yes, a sticker. Alfa Romeo has discovered that some of the cars, which are built at a Stellantis factory in Italy, may be equipped with the wrong information about tire pressure and permissible total weight.
