Tesla Cybertruck hit by another critical defect

The US traffic safety authorities are again shining the spotlight on Tesla due to a possibly critical technical defect in the Cybertruck.

The US traffic safety authorities are once again investigating Tesla for errors and deficiencies.

The reason? A TikTok video that a Cybertruck owner shared on the social media from China. In the video, the owner shows how the coating on the accelerator pedal slips off and gets stuck.

The small piece of errant aluminum makes the Tesla unable to take off. It just keeps accelerating until there is no more to give.

At least according to the owner. And the one video has caused the authorities to turn a blind eye. Because an accelerator pedal, no matter what car it is in, must not be able to get stuck.

The Cybertruck owner said he was able to brake by pressing the brake pedal itself. But that the car continued to accelerate as soon as the brake was released again. Therefore, the owner had no choice but to turn off the car completely.

And now the American authorities have entered the matter. What exactly needs to be mapped is still unknown. But on Tesla forums, Cybertruck owners are already saying that Tesla has postponed deliveries of their cars.

In fairness, a stray accelerator is not a particularly Tesla problem. Just over 15 years ago, Toyota had serious problems with accelerator pedals getting stuck between the floor mat and the floor itself in a number of cars.

Japan's then chief executive, Akio Toyoda, who is now the brand's chairman, broke down in tears in front of American Toyota dealers when he confronted them over the problem.
