Ford Fiesta owner covers 321,000 kilometers per year

Ford Fiesta owner Mike goes far. And that every year. The job as a medicine courier means 16 hours on the road – and that 5 days a week.

On average, a Danish family drives a good 17,000 kilometers a year. This is shown by a settlement from the Danish insurance company Alka.

Ford Fiesta owner Mike is not Danish but American, and he works as a medical courier. The job involves insanely many kilometers every day.

Five days a week, Mike sits behind the wheel of his Ford Fiesta to dispense medication. This is written by Car and Driver .

The longest Mike has a card in one year is just under 200,000 miles, equivalent to 321,000 kilometers. Specifically, it came to 198,000 miles between June 2012 and June 2013, because at that time he was working/running around on medication 6 days a week.

In September last year, the odometer in the small Ford clocked up 740,000 miles, equivalent to just under 1.2 million kilometers. Car and Driver has been able to verify the figure, writes the media.

Mike also says that it is quite peaceful to spend over 80 hours behind the wheel every single week. He covers most of the kilometers on the roads in and around the state of New Mexico.

The Ford owner is far from the only one who drives very far in his private car every year. There are more Americans who work behind the wheel of taking medicine from point a to b.

One of them is Farrah Haines. In 2021, she got a new Hyundai Elentra from the importer, because her own had already completed the 1.6 million kilometers with medicine in the trunk. Read more about it here .

This kind of thing costs a little. Both in maintenance and fuel. Ford Fiesta owner Mike can readily confirm that.

According to Car and Drive, the Fiesta runs through two sets of tires each year, using 22,000 liters of petrol. Just like changing the oil and rotating the tires 26 times. Springs and dampers are also replaced once a year. The timing belt and water pump last an average of 9 months.
