In August 2022, a now 31-year-old woman was caught cheating with a handicap sign in a parking lot in Valby.
In court, a 31-year-old woman explained that she did not know that the handicap sign she was driving around with was fake.
But the judge in the District Court in Frederiksberg did not believe that. In any case, the woman received a 10-day suspended sentence. The woman then also chose to confess.

Already last year, the Copenhagen Police acknowledged in response to the Danish Parliament that the fraud in which the woman was accidentally caught is difficult to uncover. It was also only because of an alert traffic policeman that the woman was exposed and convicted of the fraud.

At Danske Handicaporganisationer, which administers the scheme with the handicap signs, the organisation's director, Katrine Mandrup Tang, says that they are getting more and more inquiries about cheating or suspected cheating with the scheme.
But the handicap signs are not the only thing that Danish drivers cheat with. Many of those who, like the 31-year-old woman, do not have clean flour in their bag, try to evade the police.
For example, a 27-year-old man tried to use a missing persons number when he was stopped by the police on Solrod Strandvej on 5 September last year. Read more about that case here.
Cheating with number plates is also more widespread than you might think. We don't have to go back much further than the end of March to find a 46-year-old man who was convicted of disguising a Suzuki as a Toyota.
With the mix-up, he probably thought he could stay under the radar and thus avoid paying into quite a few statutory schemes. Read more about it here .
