He predicts bad Haas news for Kevin Magnussen

Many drivers are without a contract after this season in Formula 1. One of them is Danish Kevin Magnussen. Now a journalist sees the Dane as one of those who completely quit.

Kevin Magnussen is far from the only one out of contract after this Formula 1 season.

But if you ask former Formula 1 editor and current The Race journalist Ben Anderson, K-Mag is one of those who will be kicked out after this season.

Ben Anderson recently made that clear in a podcast for The Race.

– Now that Gene (Haas, ed.) seems to be opening up again, I think it's less important to take the man with the money or the commercial opportunities.

– That's why I think there are five guys on the verge, and it's Zhou (Guanyu, ed.), (Valtteri, ed.) Bottas, (Nico, ed.) Hülkenberg, (Kevin, ed.) Magnussen and (Logan , ed.) Sargeant.

But while Ben Anderson feels pretty confident that Sargeant will leave the Williams garage after this season, the picture is somewhat more blurred when it comes to the other four. Those like Magnussen – maybe, maybe not – are among them.

– I think that Sargeant will probably leave the team at the end of the season, so it is between the other four. I imagine Haas keeping one of Magnussen or Hülkenberg depending on who performs better.

Should K-Mag end up pulling the longest straw of the two Haas hooks, it could easily turn out to be only for a very brief remark. Maybe just a one-year extension.

– Unless Hülkenberg joins Sauber because they can't get their first choice, in which case Magnussen's position is strengthened as they like the idea of having a solid corer alongside (Ollie, ed.) Bearman. At least in the short term, says Ben Anderson.

However, there may be completely different conditions at play in the Haas garage. Both Nico Hülkenberg and Kevin Magnussen, for example, had to keep it a secret for a long time that they both had their contracts extended last year. Read more about it here .
