Chinese brand again loses lawsuit against Audi

Nio, which stubbornly claims that the brand is not leaving Denmark, has once again lost to Audi in a dispute over model names.

The Danish boss is gone. The same is true for a large part of the employees Nio hired when the brand came to Denmark in autumn 2022.

For Nio lay dormant in Denmark, the car brand lost with a bang to Audi in a dispute over model names.

The Germans simply believe that Nio, with a number of models, is too close to names that Audi uses and has the rights to. Read more about it here.

And now Germany's Hojesteret has once again ruled Audi right. Nio is not allowed to use the names in Germany. Just as the Chinese also did not have to use the names while the trial was ongoing.

The conflict between Audi and Nio has now lasted for more than two years. But with the ruling from Germany's highest court, it means that the Chinese must put the model names in the grave permanently.

In fairness, it must be said that Nio is not the only brand that has over time been inspired a little too much by Western car brands.

BYD, which came to Denmark in October 2022, for example, spent years finding the brand's 'own' expression. This was done by copying everything from BMW's logo to Mercedes' design.

And now that we're on the subject of the copies, the Chinese aren't the only ones who like to indulge in this sort of thing.

In Russia, they are now so desperate to get car production up and running in the country again that they have actually asked the Chinese for help in making copies of cars from the West. Literally like that.

All this with parallel importation of goods, which are otherwise heavily sanctioned. Production must take place at a car factory that the Russian state has occupied.Read more about it here .
