Several car dealers end up on a shameful Danish list

Several car dealers choose to look closely at decisions from the Appeals Board for Cars, even if the dealers end up in the so-called 'hanging cupboard', a new review shows.

Fortunately, the vast majority of car deals in Denmark end with both a satisfied buyer and seller. But there are those who can't figure it out.

And for both car dealers and the car brands, this means that they can end up in the Appeals Board for Cars' so-called "outreach".

Now, a review of the rulings that Autoparts24 has carried out shows that several car dealers, however, ignore the consequences when the rulings go against them.

This appears from a press release .

The purpose of the overhang is otherwise to make consumers – in this case motorists – aware that there is something here that is not as it should be.

Something just suggests that the consequence is so unimportant that the car dealers and car importers don't care.

This year alone, it has happened 14 times that a car dealer has not complied with the appeal board's decision. The cases are removed from the Udhængscabinet after 12 months. There can therefore easily be more cases – also against the same car dealer – than is apparent from the public list.

Nevertheless, director of AutoParts24, Troels Meier, believes that the appeals board is important for motorists. Especially because the board's decisions can be used in a possible lawsuit.

– Although it is obviously basically about protecting the consumer, it is at least as much about protecting all the fair and honest companies that risk being put in a box with the more dubious actors.

– That is why I believe that the board plays an important role, says the director.

It is not only car dealers, however, whose behavior risks being publicly hanged. As the only car brand with a presence in Denmark, Tesla is also on the Ankenævn for Bilers blacklist. Read more about it here .
