17-year-old must not drive a car after a moped ride of 68 metres

A 17-year-old boy probably bitterly regrets that he tore up his moped on the back wheel. Because the police saw it, and now the case against the boy has been decided in court.

A 17-year-old moped choir became on 22 November 2023 at 07.25 charged with having a card on the rear wheel over a stretch of 68 metres.

Now the case against him has ended and decided at the Court in Esbjerg. It has all ended up as a seriously expensive lesson for the young man.

This is what the Southern and Sonderjylland Police write in a press release .

The 17-year-old boy was initially stopped because he tore up the moped on the rear wheels over the 68 meters on Østergade in Oksbol.

But that was not the only thing the boy was subsequently prosecuted for. Later, the case was expanded to include illegal constructive changes and a moped without lights.

In court, the 17-year-old pleaded guilty to his car accident and the other charges the police had charged him with.

It didn't just mean that the court fined him DKK 3,000. The state also confiscated all the illegal parts on the moped; exhaust pipe, silencer, cylinder, piston, cylinder head, air filter and carburettor, the police write.

In addition to the fine and the confiscation, the 17-year-old was told that for the next two years he must not ride a small moped. He is also not allowed to take a driver's license for a car or other motorized driver's vehicle for six months from the sentence.

The young boy must also pay all the costs of the case, informs the Southern and Sonderjyllands Police.

It is far from the first time that the police have chased the illegal mopeds. Last year, East Jutland Police collaborated with a school in the town of Morke to be able to hand out stalls to students with illegal mopeds. Read more about it here .
