VIDEO: Toyota tests Supra with BMW M3 engine

There can be little doubt that Toyota is on its way with the wildest Supra Mk to date. 5 to date. To that extent, BMW technology gets a notch up.

The latest Supra is, so to speak, 'just' a BMW in a different packaging. Toyota – regardless of what the Japanese say – cannot renege on that.

BMW is written all over the car, as soon as you look a little closer. But where the Germans are ready to put the sister car Z4 in the grave, Toyota is reportedly fresh on another Supra with BMW technology. Read more about it here.

But not because the current Supra has had at least one more round. A Supra Mk. 5 based on the M3 – possibly from the coupé M4 CSL technique – has long been rumoured.

And now everything suggests that Toyota is testing it at the Nürburgring. Even with manual transmission. If everything goes as predicted in various media, the new Supra version will be good for at least 550 horsepower and 650 Nm.

That said, there is a persistent rumor that Toyota will call an upcoming electric car the Supra.

Even though Toyota has been very adamant that the electric car is far from being the only viable solution when it comes to future transport.

To Fortune, Toyota's top European boss, Matt Harrison, says bluntly that the market for used electric cars in particular does not exist.

– There is no demand for used electric cars. They (used electric cars, ed.) really drag down when you look at what it costs to own the car.
