On Wednesday of this week, the price of petrol had already risen by more than a hundred ore since January 1st. The increases look set to continue.
Ever since January 1, it has been bad business for Danish drivers to visit a petrol station.
But nevertheless, for many it is a necessity, and it hurts. Because the price of petrol only rises in one direction – namely upwards. The price of one liter of petrol is now just under 16 kroner.
If you compare it with the days before New Year, it has now become 80 kroner more expensive to fill 50 liters of petrol in the car.

The price increases are connected, among other things, to the additional taxes on fuel that the government introduced on 1 January. And the price increases only seem to continue towards 2030.
A future CO2 tax from the EU alone is expected to make one liter of petrol 1 kroner and 30 øre more expensive in 2030 than today.
But an economy that has performed better than expected is actually also pushing the price up. So do Russia's attacks on Ukraine and wars in the Middle East.
