Bentley sales down 'because the rich don't blather enough'

For the first time in four years, Bentley's sales fell in 2023. But the brand's managing director Adrian Hallmark has an explanation for that.

According to the director, the rich, who are typically Bentley's customers, have got a bad conscience when it comes to flashing their wealth on wheels.

Reuters writes that.

In any case, Adrian Hallmark describes his customers as 'emotionally sensitive'. And that links Bentley directly with a fall in sales of 11 percent.

In front of The Drive, a Bentley spokesperson also confirms that it is expected that caution among customers in certain markets will continue.

Especially in England and China, where you are currently experiencing continued economic and political difficulties, it has become less popular to flash wealth on wheels, it says.

Although Bentley had to accept sales of 'only' 13,560 last year, the English VAG brand is still a business with nice, black numbers on the bottom line.

Before the taxman took his share of the cake, Bentley had a result of 4.4 billion Danish kroner last year. Among other things because the brand sold fewer, but far more expensive cars in the course of 2023.
