– Dad, I squeeze a few extra months out of life, just so I can sing in it, says Joe Tegerdine's dying son, aged just 18.
We are probably only at the end of March. But Joe Tegerdine may have already taken the title of 'father of the year 2024'.
His 19-year-old son, Joseph Tegerdine, has been fighting cancer since he was 13 years old. And in February, the young man was told that the cancer has spread to the lungs.
Something the doctors believe gives Joseph Tegerdine only a few months left to live. But that will not stop him now. Nor from getting behind the wheel of his new car.
Father Joe Tegerdine just bought it for him. A Ford Mustang with a 2.3-liter engine and 330 horsepower.

– Dad, I'm squeezing a few extra months out of life, just so I can enjoy it, said the son, writes Joe Tegerdine on the social media "X".
The tragic fate of Joseph Tegerdine has reached all the way to the top executive office at Ford, where CEO Jim Farley is ready to jump in with a crash course in the new top model Mustang Dark Horse.
– You just have to speak up, Joe. Then we will make it happen, promises the Ford director.
A chance neither father nor son could say no to. Therefore, in April, the family sets course for the Ford Performance Racing School in North Carolina. Here they unleash the new Dark Horse on the Charlotte Motor Speedway.
Subsequently, Joe Tegerdine has again found his way to the keys and told the outside world a little more about his son. The 19-year-old man would rather live the rest of his life to the fullest than sit tied to a choir stall or lie in bed.
– I can't put into words how excited Joseph is about that choir course. And I am equally looking forward to going with him, writes Joe Tegerdine in a thank you to Ford for the help.
