All Danish cities have been allowed to establish one zero-emission zone with an amendment to the law. At the town hall, a number of parties will ban petrol and diesel cars in several places.
At Copenhagen City Hall, a number of parties, based on a proposal from the Radical Left, now want to ban even more diesel and petrol cars in several places in the capital.
The parties believe that it is not enough with the one zero-emission zone that all Danish cities are allowed to establish after a change in the law at Christiansborg.
– We are the ones who know Copenhagen best. The government does not do that. I am quite disappointed that we have to be wrapped up in rules and requirements. We have ambitious goals, says Katrine Kjeldgaard, radical technology and environment minister in the city, to TV2 Kosmopol .
However, it is not at all certain that the Copenhagen politicians will be allowed to continue the hunt for the drivers.

Because even if the municipality were to decide that more zero-emission zones would be introduced, that decision ultimately rests with Christiansborg.
And here, at the moment, there is no mood to give a dispensation to the fact that Copenhagen, as the only Danish city, can even force motorists out more than is already the case.
There are also cities that go in a completely opposite direction to the currents in the Danish capital.
In Odense, although motorists must be forced to slow down to 30 km/h in most of the city, it has been decided to drop zero-emission zones.
However, the zero-emission zones do not mean that a city like Copenhagen can completely ban fossil-fuel cars. Buses are already exempt from the requirements in these zones.
At the trade organization De Danske Bilimportorer, however, they are happy that the municipalities are given the opportunity to throw away cars that their own members sell.
The organization's director, Mads Rorvig, has previously said that the population must adjust and only buy electric cars. So he is pleased that the municipalities now have the opportunity to force people out of their cars.
– It is essential that the municipalities are given the opportunity to make decisions about zero-emission zones now, so that they can come into force in 2030.
– This gives car owners the opportunity to plan their switch to an electric car, so that the transition becomes more manageable. More people will switch to the electric car before 2030, which is why the green effects will be visible earlier, it was stated in a press release back in February.
