The police ban cars on a famous street in Denmark

North Jutland Police has asked Aalborg municipality to enforce a new ban on cars and trucks in the famous party street Jomfru Ane Gade.

Jomfru Ane Gade in Aalborg is densely populated. Especially at the weekend, when it has a very active nightlife.

Therefore, North Jutland Police has asked Aalborg municipality to enforce a new ban on cars and trucks in the street. The cars simply must not be able to drive there.

This is written by Nordjyske .

– It (the ban, ed.) takes place on the basis of the general threat assessment in Denmark and follows the general measures at Christmas markets, large concerts and the like, police inspector Henrik Skals tells the media.

In the city council, City and Landscape Councilor Jan Nymark Thaysen (V), who has political responsibility for the area, does not wish to comment on the matter to the media.

But from the agenda for an upcoming fashion in the committee, it appears that measures to prevent cars in Jomfru Ane Gade in Aalborg must be rejected.

The new ban, which the police want to introduce, is expected to cost the municipality around DKK 1.4 million to implement.

Nordjyllands Police is certainly not the only law enforcement force that requires a street/road that many people use to be closed to traffic.

In 2018, for example, 85 bollards around Christiansborg were camouflaged as granite stones. The bollards are designed so that they can, for example, stop a truck. Even at high speed.

Various forms of protection against terrorism have also been established in cities such as Herning, Berlin and Stockholm. This sort of thing gained particular momentum after a terrorist attack with a truck in 2016 killed 85 people in the French city of Nice.
