The V8 engine is still alive: New Mercedes has 930 horsepower

The 'regular' Mercedes-AMG S 63 E Performance has 802 horsepower. But it can always get wilder – just ask Brabus.

The V8 engine is not at all as dead as some might like to see it. Mercedes has even scaled back its electric car ambitions. So the 8 cylinders are not going anywhere.

At least not for the time being. Say hello to the Brabus 930 S.

As the name more than suggests, we are dealing with a genuine highway missile. A whopping 930 horsepower and – hold on tight – 1,500 Nm. All from a 'just' 4-litre V8 engine with twin turbos.

According to the German tuner, the nearly 2.6-ton Mercedes accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in just 3.2 seconds, and it doesn't stop pulling, because the electronic limiter puts an end to the fun at 290 km/h.

But the lucky owners are also allowed to pay for that. Brabus says its bid for an S-Class starts at 405,000 euros. This corresponds to 3 million Danish kroner. That is, plus the loose.

For that kind of money you get a car that drives all four wheels through a 9-speed automatic transmission. And – if we didn't make it clear enough – an abundance of luxury.

The price is of course without tax. In other words, even the relatively modest car tax the Germans charge is not included in the price.

Just try to imagine what such a fellow costs on Danish license plates. Just so you have something to compare with, we can state that the – again – 'ordinary' Mercedes-AMG S 63 E Performance costs from DKK 4.025 million after tax has been paid.

If less can do it, Brabus actually also has an offer for an A-Class. Believe it or not, the B45 was already shown off in 2021.

You know, the car Mercedes wants to make a big deal out of equipping it with the world's most powerful series-produced 4-cylinder petrol engine. It all pales a little, to say the least, once Brabus has looked at the car. Read more about it here .
