The National Police is now forced to guide Danish motorists about compensation after their cars have been illegally demanded to be legalized at authorized workshops.
It was already established back in September 2022. The police must not demand that cars that may have been illegally constructively modified be legalized at authorized workshops.
Both the motorists and the police in the Western High Court have their word for it. Nevertheless, several police circles have continued with the illegal practice.
This is what Minister of Justice Peter Hummelgaard (S) writes in an answer to a question from the Danish People's Party's Mette Thiesen.
According to the Minister of Justice, the National Police believes that the vast majority of police circles abandoned the illegal practice after the verdict. But there are still political circles that have broken the law according to the judgment of the Western High Court.

And although the minister will not deal with individual cases either in the answer to the DF member or in the parliament, the affected car owners may be able to receive compensation.
"The National Police can also state that some police districts have stated that, according to the judgment of the High Court, they have had a few cases in which a demand for legal repair at an authorized workshop has been erroneously made."
"These political circles have indicated that they will contact the affected citizens and guide them about compensation", writes Peter Hummelgaard.
In his reply, the Minister of Justice also notes that the National Police will again instruct the country's police circles that the practice is illegal. Come up with an 'intensification', as it is called.
At High on Cars, lawyer Mikkel Gudsoe believes that it is honorable that the National Police is now correcting.
– It does both the Minister of Justice, the Ministry of Justice and the National Police a great honor that you as a citizen do not have to hire lawyers and all sorts of things when you have been exposed to something that has not been right, he says in a video like 'High on Cars – Inside' has posted on Youtube.
