Volkswagen sold MANY more Poles than cars in 2023

In fact, Volkswagen's currywurst did so well that the brand has never sold Pols. But there would have to be protests.

If there's one thing Volkswagen customers should be asking for in 2023, it's… polish?! Yes, it is good enough.

In fact, the car brand's factory workers consumed so many of the famous Volkswagen currywurst sticks that it far exceeded the sales of passenger cars.

This is what Auto Bild writes on the basis of an internal memo that has been sent around to Volkswagen employees in Germany.

And in fact, the sales of Poles did not just exceed the number of passenger cars. The polish itself also broke a record last year, when Volkswagen employees bought 8.33 million of them by 2023.

That is 400,000 more than in the whole of 2022. According to Auto Bild, the increase is primarily due to the 'hot dog' version of the curry pole, which the Volkswagen canteens put on the menu in 2021.

In comparison, it succeeded in selling 'only' 4.87 million Volkswagen models in the whole of 2023. However, it was still 6.7 percent more than the year before, the brand said in a press release in January.

VW Currywurst is produced in the Volkswagen Service Factory. But it is not only the factory employees who benefit from it. Traders in the German state of Lower Saxony also do this. Polish can be found here in many supermarkets.

In 2021, Volkswagen tried to remove currywurst from the menu in the canteen at the main factory in Wolfsburg, as they wanted to force employees to choose more code-free alternatives.

However, it was an incredibly unpopular decision. In fact, it prompted Germany's former chancellor Gerhard Schröder to intervene in the debate on the protest side.

A move that eventually put such massive pressure on Volkswagen that currywurst was back on the menu by the end of August 2023.

We would like to admit that there is a long way between the 'food news' here at Boosted. But they are there. It caused quite a stir, for example, when a boy got the police on his neck – and a fine – because he ate a kebab behind the wheel. Read more about it here .
