Since 1991, Autohuset Bornholm has sold new Volkswagen models. But now the dealer is bankrupt and the car brand is gone from the island.
A profit of almost DKK 500,000 after tax last year was not enough to keep Autohuset Bornholm afloat.
On February 29 – that is, Thursday this week – the dealer was filed for bankruptcy. At the same time, all 13 employees have been fired. This is stated by the trustee of the bankruptcy estate, Peter Paldan Sorensen.
– I can confirm that Autohuset Bornholm A/S was declared bankrupt yesterday, after having filed for bankruptcy myself. All employees have unfortunately been dismissed, says a press release.
According to TV2 Bornholm, all employees have been paid their latest salary. But on February 29 at At 15.30 they were asked to leave the store.

According to the media, it is regrettable that several customers are caught in situations where they are waiting for new cars. Peter Paldan Sorensen says, however, that as soon as possible they will contact the motorists who, among other things, has tires lying around for storage.
But if there are new cars in a pinch, it doesn't look like these will be delivered. The cars belong to the bankruptcy estate. However, it is not only new cars that have come under pressure due to the bankruptcy.
As recently as this week, one of the dealer's customers brought his car in for service at the workshop. He should not count on getting it handed over right away.
Volkswagen is just the latest brand to disappear from Bornholm. Most recently, the Stellantis brands Citroën, Peugeot and Opel also disappeared from the cliff island.
Back at the Danish VW importer, it is now rumored that they are considering what and whether something should be done with the brand's presence (or the lack thereof, ed.) on Bornholm.
