Toyota will pay people to buy cars that are useless

At home in Denmark, the Toyota importer sticks to the hydrogen car as part of the model program. In the US, the brand is ready to pay customers for a Mirai.

Back in September last year, all remaining hydrogen stations in Denmark were shut down.

At about the same time, the Danish Toyota importer announced that the brand's hydrogen car Mirai would not disappear from the model program here.

In the US, however, the brand is ready to support the hydrogen car even more. This happens even though several hydrogen stations, like the situation in Denmark, are closed.

According to Tech Crunch , the American importer is prepared to indirectly pay motorists to buy a Mirai.

Right now, the car, which costs $50,091 in the US, can not only be financed at 0 percent interest, Toyota also offers free hydrogen filling to the value of $15,000 on top of the deal.

This is what the importer writes on the Mirai model page of Toyota's website.

In this way, writes Tech Crunch, Toyota actually ends up paying drivers 3,000 dollars, equivalent to almost 21,000 Danish kroner for a new Mirai.

Toyota's impressive offer for the hydrogen car comes just three weeks after the international energy company Shell announced that it is closing all of its hydrogen stations in the US's most populous state. Read more about it here .

In Denmark, it wasn't just a number of taxis that became useless when the hydrogen stations closed. This also applied to several private cars. Lars, for example, lost over DKK 500,000 on the closing. Read more about it here .
