Their father dead – now they have found 600 of his cars left behind

The find is already being called the largest of its kind in South Africa's history. The last 200 cars were found abandoned after already selling 400 cars.

Louis Coetzer died together with his wife in a tragic car accident in 2020. Since then, the couple's children have sold off their father's huge car collection in several rounds.

This is written by South African CarMag .

Over the course of 50 years, Louis Coetzer had collected more than several cars. Perhaps the couple's children thought it was over when another 200 cars turned up on a property in the eastern South African town of Barkly East.

According to CarMag, auctioneer Joff van Reenen couldn't believe his eyes when he realized that the 200 cars actually existed.

They will all be put up for sale in an online auction that will take place between March 25 and April 3 this year. Thus, the children of the Coetzer couple will have sold 600 cars that their father has owned.

And there is enough to take off. The full overview of the collection, which has been named 'The Lost Car Collection', has not yet been put online.

But it is rumored that there is everything from Mercedes, Chevrolet, Ford, Cadillac, Porsche and BMW models in between.

The auction will be run by Creative Rides. So this is where you need to keep an eye out. Is it then worth picking up one – or several – older Mercedes from South Africa? That is a completely different conversation.

It happens from time to time that spectacular 'barn discoveries' surface. And we here at Boosted think that's actually so interesting that we've created a whole category just for charging finds.
