War-obsessed types smash well-known racing lobs

First, they tried to destroy the supply line to large parts of the world. And now a rebel movement in Yemen is preventing the start of this year's WEC World Championship.

The Yemeni rebel group, the Houthi movement, is once again at odds with the rest of the world.

First, they prevented world trade from functioning as normal when they attacked ships in the Red Sea with missiles.

Among other things, it has affected cargo ships owned by the Danish shipping company Maersk. And now the Houthi movement has succeeded in delaying the start of the Endurance Championship WEC.

The first round of pre-season testing officially begins this weekend in Qatar. But on Thursday, more than half of the teams in the field have not arrived. Therefore, the test is now postponed.

This is stated by the international motorsport organization FIA in a press release .

The FIA is now betting that the test can be carried out between Monday and Tuesday next week. For the time being, however, the delay does not move due to the fact that the WEC season, which includes the 24-hour race at the Le Mans track in France on the calendar, begins on March 2.

It also happens in Qatar. In fact, on exactly the same track – Lusail International Circuit – where the opportunity to cover the first test kilometers has now been postponed.
