Another employee killed in a work accident at a car factory

A 52-year-old man lost his life on Thursday this week in an occupational accident at one of the Stellantis group's factories in southern Italy.

Following the death, a metalworkers' union has called for a strike over safety concerns at the site.

Reuters writes that.

The 52-year-old man, who was employed by a subcontractor, was working on machine maintenance when the accident happened.

According to a union source quoted by Reuters, he was crushed to death. So far, a Stellantis spokesman would not go into detail, but the group confirms that the 52-year-old has lost his life.

– Stellantis expresses his deepest sorrow and sympathy to (the deceased's, ed.) family. The company is cooperating with the police and other authorities, who are now investigating the case, the spokesman said.

The accident happens shortly after another employee at a car factory lost his life in a work accident. The 65-year-old man had worked at the site for several years. Read more about the case here .
