28-year-old arrested for old trick with used cars

According to the police, a 28-year-old man has promised a number of car owners that he will send them money, i.e. the day after he has 'bought' the cars.

A 28-year-old man from North Zealand was arrested on Wednesday this week for a string of scams with used cars.

However, the 28-year-old has always used the same tactic, namely to promise the sellers that the money for the individual car will land with them the day after the deal.

This is what the Central and West Zealand Police write in the police report .

Among other things, the fraud has spread to a man from Lejre, who 'sold' his used car to the 28-year-old man.

The 28-year-old succeeded in convincing the car owner that there were problems with the bank transfer. In this way, he took both the car and the registration certificate with him from the address.

However, the car owner from Lejre never got the money. Not even the day after, as the 28-year-old had promised. Instead, the 28-year-old hurried to re-register the car in order to sell it on to a car dealer.

– This is a cunning and cheeky way of deceiving people, so we would like to encourage you to make sure that you have received the money, because you hand over the car and registration certificate, says Police Commissioner Otto Storm.

Central and West Zealand Police are aware of another scam in Roskilde. But the police circle cannot rule out that the case develops with several factors.
