The Cadillac-backed Andretti Motorsport has not given up hope of joining Formula 1. Not even if the team's bid for a Formula 1 place has been rejected.

But the private team, which has factory support from the General Motors brand, will not give up the idea of a place in the Formula 1 field.
This is what the deputy director of GM's motorsport department, Jim Campbell, says in an interview with Autosport .

– We feel good about our joint application to Formula 1 with Andretti. The FIA weighed it up against other applications and found it good enough.
– We are convinced that between Andretti and Cadillac we have a competitive bid for a Formula 1 team.
Jim Campbell emphasizes that it is not an easy task that the partners have embarked on. But at the same time the Americans refuse to shelve the project.
– Having said that, we continue to develop our Formula 1 car, says the deputy director.
The Formula 1 organization has for the time being rejected Andretti-Cadillac's bid for a place in the field in 2026. But the door is not completely closed.
There is also an opportunity to apply for a place again in 2028. Here, Cadillac already says that it will be ready with its own Formula 1 engine for the team.
