Car production temporarily stops in Italy – missing French engines

On Monday this week, Stellantis was forced to temporarily stop the production of vans in Italy – there is a shortage of engines… from France

While production started to pick up again already on Tuesday morning, Stellantis cannot rule out more production stoppages in the future. That is, together because of the global product and supply problems that the corona pandemic has quickly brought with it. The same thing happened on Thursday, when it was otherwise planned to compensate for the production that was stopped for several days last year due to the lack of microchips. But since they couldn't get enough microchips that Saturday either, they abandoned the project. And on Monday there was a shortage of engines. Weekend work is necessary now – We cannot rule out that production will be stopped several times in the future due to the lack of components, materials and general supply problems, says trade union representative Nicola Manzi. He added that it will be necessary to call the employees to work on several Lord's days and Sundays in order to make up for the lost production. The Sevel Sud factory in Attesa, Italy, is the largest van factory in Europe. Here, Stellantis manufactures vans with Peugeot, Citroen and Fiat logos. While the Fiat Ducato uses Multijet engines built in Italy, the Citroen Jumper and Peugeot Boxer siblings use BlueHDi engines produced in France.
