Car brand confirms – negotiations with Haas have broken down

Haas can potentially lean on a financial slap in Formula 1 after sponsorship negotiations broke down between the Americans and Alfa Romeo.

There was something about the conversation. Was…

Because Alfa Romeo actually talked to Haas about the car brand's possibility of staying in Formula 1, even though the car brand's sponsorship agreement with Sauber expired after the last Formula 1 race in 2023.

Here at Boosted, we could already tell in May. At the time, it left Haas and the Italian car brand 'exploring all options to stay in Formula 1'.

But the chance at Haas, where team boss Gunther Steiner wanted to confirm that they were in dialogue with Alfa Romeo, was thus lost.

The car brand's managing director Jean-Philippe Imparato now confirms this in an interview with motorsport.com . The explanation for the fruitless negotiations is also obvious.

According to Imparato, Alfa Romeo wanted more than just a name and a few stickers for its participation in Formula 1.

– We were not interested in a 'copy and paste' agreement in the style of Sauber. That would have resulted in us being one of many to put our stickers on the bodywork. We would no longer have been new and we would not have been part of a story.

Alfa Romeo confirmed at the end of November that the brand is now completely withdrawing from Formula 1. At the time, however, the brand did not say anything about why. That explanation may have only come now.

How much Alfa Romeo would pay Haas for a collaboration, or how the car brand would have liked it to look, Imparato does not touch on in the interview.
