Odense will not introduce zero-emission zones anyway

There will be none of the zero-emission zones, which the administration in Odense otherwise had to use as a tool to get motorists out of the city.

Odense will still be a climate-neutral city. And the latest in 2030. But it won't stop by forcing drivers out of the city with zero-emission zones.

The city is now dropping the measure, even though all municipalities in Denmark will be given the opportunity to introduce such zones with a new law from Christiansborg.

That's what MobilityWatch writes.

– We have taken the tool and put it in the toolbox, says Tim Vermund Andersen (S), who is climate and environment councilor in Odense.

However, Funen's largest municipality still has plans to inconvenience motorists. A majority in the city council decided last November that motorists in virtually the entire city may not drive faster than 30 km/h.

However, the speed reductions have not yet been implemented. And with Venstre, which jumped from the agreement, it sounds like they want the new speed limits withdrawn again.

Conversely, the city councils in Aarhus and Copenhagen have decided that there must be environmental zones. In Aarhus, it has not yet become clear where exactly in the city.
